Job summary

Bulk Equipment Corp. is seeking an Operating Technician to service mill operations across multiple sites and service refractory tearout equipment. The role requires diagnosing issues, performing inspections, and maintaining safety at customer sites

Travel up to 75% to sites such as US Fairfield, Granite City, and Lewisport, KY, with a heavy emphasis on safe operation and timely maintenance of heavy equipment. In-person work location in Memphis, TN area.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years' experience operating heavy equipment (straight boom excavators and teardown preferred).
• Proficient with hydraulics, powertrain, electrical and diesel systems.
• Welding (stick, MIG, TIG, air arc) skills required.
• Familiar with tracing wiring and hydraulic schematics using computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment at customer sites.
• Perform routine inspections and services on equipment.
• Operate refractory tearout equipment safely (LAG, Gradall, KT Grant).
• Complete pre-shift inspections and grease equipment at shift start.
• Use maintenance management software to complete work orders accurately.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction by meeting needs and time constraints.
• Respond to service calls promptly and safely.

Job description

We are a well-established multi-state equipment/service provider, offering services to industrial markets with a strong emphasis on heavy equipment and specialized fleet rental needs. The Operating Technician is responsible for providing mill maintenance to mill operations including BOFs, Blast Furnaces, Electric Furnaces, and other mill areas, and for the safe operation of multiple types of refractory tearout equipment such as LAG, Gradall, and KT Grant machines.

Locations this position will service:

• US Fairfield
• Nucor Crawfordsville
• US Granite City
• Lewisport, KY

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment at customer sites
• Perform routine inspections and services on equipment
• Responsible for the safe operation of refractory Tearout equipment including, but not limitedto, LAG, Gradall, and KT Grant machines
• Complete pre-shift inspections before operating equipment and grease equipment at the start of each shift
• Complete required work orders accurately using company maintenance management software
• Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by understanding and addressing customer needs and time constraints
• Respond to service calls timely and efficiently
• Follow all safety policies and procedures and use required PPE properly
• Be on time for scheduled shifts and punch in and out on the BULK clock-in platform
• Maintain a clean and safe work and break room environment
• Abide by all BULK safety and operational procedures, as well as any mill-mandated safety procedures and requirements
• During downtime, assist with any minor maintenance requirements and housekeeping
• Create parts lists when needed and communicate with site management and/or purchasing department
• Maintain certifications required for specific or specialized work, and licenses required tooperate service vehicles
• Keep company assets such as vehicles, laptops, diagnostic & specialty tooling in working order
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• 1-3 years' experience of operating Heavy Equipment (straight boom excavators and refractory demolition experience preferred)
• 1-3 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment and strong working knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, electronic/electrical systems, diesel, etc. preferred
• Must be self-driven and motivated
• Able to independently diagnose issues without assistance (electrical & hydraulic systems)
• Must be able to weld (stick, MIG, TIG, air arc)
• Strong familiarity with hydraulics
• Ability to check and set system pressures
• Practical troubleshooting mindset required
• Familiar with computer programs used to trace wiring and hydraulic schematics
• Knowledgeable with track machines
• John Deere equipment experience preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with Volvo engines
• Understanding of DEF systems (exhaust and emissions)
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
• Has experience running tearout machines including LG and Gradall
• Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, prolonged standing, walking, and manual dexterity are required. The employee will also need to bend, climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 50 lbs.

*This position will require constant traveling.
