The University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Nursing, seeks Staff Nurses with General Surgery/Plastics (including microsurgery, open and endo) experience to join the Main Operating Room Overnight Trauma Team. The role supports patients during the intraoperative phase with a focus on trauma and emergency surgical care.

The department operates 24/7 with 30 operating rooms and emphasizes collaborative, patient-centered care, ongoing learning, and contribution to unit and hospital policies.

Formación

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families and staff.
• General computer skills are required.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
• BSN/MSN degrees are highly desired.

Responsabilidades

• Incorporates scientific, behavioral and humanistic principles for clinical practice.
• Applies nursing theory to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of patient responses.
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
• Develops and implements patient care plans based on condition and factors affecting outcomes.
• Documents interventions and patient/family responses.
• Participates in teaching and orientation of new staff and students.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and identifies opportunities for improvement.
