Job summary
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Staff Nurses with Neuro/Orthopedic Surgery experience to join the Main Operating Room Overnight Trauma Team. This position supports our patients during their intraoperative phase of care, focusing on trauma & emergency surgical care.
Schedule: Part-time (SEIU), Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays 1900-0730, with shift extensions and on-call rotation. Location: University Campus.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in nursing required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa by date of hire.
- Baccalaureate or higher preferred; RN with specialty in intraoperative care desirable.
Responsibilities
- Act as Staff Nurse in Main Operating Room with 90% time commitment.
- Incorporate nursing theory into assessment, plan, and evaluation of patient responses.
- Assist with transfer/discharge planning and multidisciplinary care coordination.
- Maintain safety and follow departmental policies and universal precautions.
- Contribute to quality improvement, education, and research utilization activities.
