Job summary

Optimhealth seeks a Surgical Technician to join its Brunswick, GA team. The role supports surgeons, prepares the OR, and maintains a sterile environment throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include instrument management, room turnover, and ensuring asepsis per industry standards. Requires graduation from a Surgical Technologist program and NBSTA certification preferred. This is a full-time position in a clinical setting with patient care duties.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• NBSTA Certification as a surgical technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical procedures, assembles supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Assists in clean-up of rooms between procedures and at the end of the schedule.
• Assists in monitoring and maintaining instruments, supplies, and equipment in the unit.
• Maintains proficiency in knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and AORN / AAMI standards of asepsis.
• Participates in sponge, needle, and instruments count with the circulating nurse as needed.
• Responsible for identifying and preserving specimens received during surgery.
• Reports to supervisor any unusual occurrences, breaks in technique, malfunctioning equipment, any unsafe condition or potential hazard.
• Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
