Job summary

Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center is seeking a Surgery Attendant to transport patients, assist nursing staff with direct patient care, and perform general housekeeping within the OR environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily OR schedules, assisting with patient positioning, maintaining sterile techniques, and ensuring safety during transport and procedures. On-call availability within 30 minutes and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to follow instructions, verbal and written, in English.
• Position requires on-call duties with arrival within 30 minutes after contact.
• Strong service orientation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to provide age-appropriate patient care and understand growth and development across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

• Identifies flow of daily schedules to anticipate needs of assigned OR suite and manage time.
• Selects appropriate OR tables and utilizes equipment for patient positioning and safety.
• Performs sterile technique, assist in surgery, and assist with gowning and gloving.
• Maintains OR sterility and proper cleaning/sterilization of room equipment.
• Communicates effectively with departments to ensure continuous patient care.
• Handles vocera and pager appropriately.
• Assists with patient transport and positioning to prevent injury.
• Supports anesthesia and nursing staff in patient positioning and safety.

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent

BLS certification within 90 days of hire

English language proficiency

On-call readiness (arrive within 30 minutes)

Positive service-oriented interpersonal skills
