Job summary

Ridgecrest Regional Hospital in Ridgecrest, CA is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support perioperative teams and maintain efficient surgical services. Under supervision, you’ll transport patients, clean rooms, and restock supplies, ensuring readiness for procedures.

The role emphasizes independence, clear communication, and strong customer service to support patients and care teams in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital preferred or related experience desired.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.
• Ability to adhere to RRH's Standby and Emergency Callback (Surgery) on-call policy.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to take direction well and interact professionally with coworkers.
• Flexible and able to adapt to ever-changing environments.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients as assigned within the perioperative department.
• Clean operating rooms, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas of the department.
• Assist with room turnover between surgical procedures.
• Restock supplies as instructed.
• Work independently while taking direction from the OR Director, Manager, Charge Nurse, and other appropriate team members.
• Interact professionally with coworkers.
• Remain flexible and adapt to changing needs within the perioperative environment.
• Participate in standby and emergency callback responsibilities in accordance with RRH's Surgery on-call policy.
