Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois seeks a patient assistant to support operating room activities, prepare patients and supplies, and maintain sterility and safety throughout procedures. Responsibilities include patient care, sterile technique under supervision, and timely room turnover.

The role requires attention to infection control, documentation, and teamwork. A high school diploma plus Mercyhealth orientation are expected, with CPR/BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of Mercyhealth patient assistant orientation and competency required.
• CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
• Patience and calm demeanor.
• Respectful patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care activities as assigned per routine and policies.
• Assists with sterile technique under supervision to maintain sterility.
• Keeps patient environments clean and safe; maintains supplies and equipment.
• Transports patients to the OR and ensures readiness.
• Performs documentation of care and participates in quality improvement.
