Miami Children's Hospital is seeking a Perioperative Aide in the Operating Room for part-time evening shifts. The role provides support under supervision to perioperative patients and nursing staff.

Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting rooms, assisting with patient positioning, transporting supplies, and adhering to infection control policies while maintaining patient privacy and safety. A high school education and healthcare exposure are desirable.

Qualifications

• High School education preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is desirable.
• Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families and co-workers using effective oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects rooms, furniture, fixtures and equipment per the Infection Control Policy.
• Cleans and returns equipment to storage.
• Precepts new employees and volunteers during their introductory period.
• Responds to questions for perioperative patients with sensitivity to care and privacy.
• Assists with lifting and positioning of the patient under the supervision of the Nurse.
• Transports laboratory products, clinical supplies, and pharmacy items to support productivity.
• Transports patients as directed by the core desk and responds to OR desk requests promptly.
• Follows Laboratory Protocols and Standards for Specimen Handling and blood products.
• Anticipates patient comfort needs and provides items like warm blankets and positioning aids.
• Manages biohazardous waste and exchanges syringe boxes per policy.
• Stocks linens and supplies; completes turnovers within standards.
