Job summary

Cypress Pointe Surgical in Hammond, LA is seeking a Scheduling Specialist to manage daily scheduling and rescheduling of surgical cases, coordinating with Registration, OR, and physicians to maintain smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include gathering patient/insurance information, data entry in CPSI, scanning physician documents, and liaising with departments to communicate changes while upholding HIPAA privacy and compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in healthcare scheduling/registration or insurance verification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and reschedule surgical cases daily, coordinating with multiple departments to ensure patient flow.
  • Obtain and enter patient and clinical information (demographics, insurance, physician orders, pre-certifications) for scheduling.
  • Scan and route documents from physicians' offices related to scheduling.
  • Serve as liaison between physicians and patients to communicate scheduling changes and resolve issues.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and adhere to Cypress Pointe Hospital policies.

Job description

Responsible for scheduling and rescheduling of surgical cases daily. Responsible for performing these tasks with the knowledge of scheduled case flow, communicating with various other departments on scheduling issues, and the routing of necessary Registration Department forms to facilitate desired patient outcome throughout the Registration process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate daily in all job functions and interactions with patients, customers, coworkers, Managers, and physicians the mission and Standards of Behavior of Cypress Pointe Hospital.
  • Perform job duties professionally, consistently, and effectively to maintain and/or exceed assigned goals to support the success of the department and Cypress Pointe Surgical Hospital.
  • Responsible for scheduling Pre-operative visits, Surgical, and Radiology cases into the CPSI OR Scheduling Module.
  • Responsible for obtaining patient and clinical information pertinent to scheduling a patient for medical services. This information includes but is not limited to patient/guarantor demographics, insurance information, physician orders, and pre-certification from physician’s office.
  • Responsible for scanning the documents received from the physician’s office upon scheduling services.
  • Liaison between physicians and patients to determine surgery or radiology rescheduling or cancels and communicate the scheduling changes to team members in various departments daily.
  • Communicates with OR Manager any unusual cases or extenuating circumstances when a surgery is scheduled to prevent any interruptions to the patient flow process and surgical procedure
  • Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with patients, physicians, vendors, and employees of all departments.
  • Handle all special requests appropriately and timely assigned from the Director of Patient Access, OR Manager, and/or Administration.
  • Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Must be able to multi-task and flex working schedule to ensure customer satisfaction, completion of job duties, and to support the operations of the Registration department.
  • Possess knowledge of scheduling procedures according to CPSH Policies.
  • Possess a working knowledge of computer utilized for scheduling and data entry.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA Compliance.
Education/Qualifications
  • Satisfactory completion of high school or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the healthcare setting in registration, insurance verification and/or scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organization and meticulous attention to detail.
