Job summary

Gila Regional Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse to assess, plan, direct, and deliver safe surgical nursing care in the operating room. The RN will conduct time-outs, administer medications, and ensure correct site and patient before surgery.

The role requires an active New Mexico or multi-state RN license, BLS, ACLS (or within 6 months), and preferably 1 year of OR/Pre-OP/PACU experience. Join GRMC to support high-quality perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico or multi-state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• ACLS required or within 6 months of hire.
• PALS preferred.
• One year OR, Pre-OP, PACU or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, directs, and evaluates plan of care for each patient in the OR using the nursing process.
• Documents patient assessments and verifies identity, consent accuracy, and correct surgical site and side.
• Evaluates patient condition and lab data; communicates issues to the OR team.
• Conducts and documents surgical time-outs to confirm patient, procedure, and site.
• Safely administers medications and ensures proper labeling on back table items.
• Circulates for procedures with knowledge of surgical protocols and patient positioning.
• Prepares, labels, and documents specimens accurately.
• Adheres to sterilization protocols and completes documentation; ensures room readiness for next case.
• Supports infection control, safety reporting, and regulatory guidelines.

Education

RN license (New Mexico or multi-state)

BLS certification

ACLS certification

PALS preferred

1 year OR/Pre-OP/PACU experience preferred
