Job summary

CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Park Rapids, MN is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our perioperative team. You will provide comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care, assess patients, maintain sterile technique, and support safe, efficient surgeries.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and allied staff to optimize outcomes. Requirements include MN RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS within one year; OR/PACU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited professional nursing education program.
• Registered Nurse Licensed by the State of Minnesota.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one (1) year of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative assessment, planning, and evaluation of surgical patients.
• Prepare the operating room, ensuring equipment, instruments, and sterile field meet AORN standards and patient‑specific needs.
• Circulate and/or scrub for diverse surgical procedures, actively anticipating surgeon's needs and maintaining patient safety.
• Accurately document all aspects of patient care, surgical events, and interventions in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other care team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Implement nursing interventions delegated, ordered, or prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider within the perioperative setting.
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique, infection control protocols, and patient safety initiatives (e.g., time‑out).
