Job summary

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, TX is interviewing for a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room on a PRN basis. You will evaluate patients pre‑operatively, educate families, and prepare for surgery with IV therapy and meds.

You’ll follow universal protocols and participate in team workflows to ensure safety and efficiency. Reqs include ACLS, BCLS, PALS within 6 months, and RN licensure within 6 months, with an ADN or BSN degree.

Qualifications

• ACLS, BCLS, and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• RN license must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and nurses.
• Document patient condition and care provided during shift.
