Job summary

Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse - First Assistant for the Operating Room. This full-time, days position offers a 36-hour work week at the Novi site, with a sign-on bonus up to $5,000.

Performs direct assistance to surgeons across procedures, positioning patients, aiding visualization, hemostasis, closures, and drain management. Requires Michigan RN licensure and nursing diploma; ALS/BLS within specified windows.

Qualifications

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing prior to hire date.
Advance Life Support (ALS) within 6 months of hire date; BLS within 1 month.
CNOR/CCI credential preferred; First Assistant credential preferred.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
Graduate of an RN First Assist Program and 1 year First Assist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides direct assistance to surgeons before, during and after surgical procedures.
Positions patient to optimize exposure and comfort during procedures.
Performs visualization of operative site per physician orders; tissue manipulation, retraction and suction.
Assists with hemostasis and closure, wound dressings, and drainage systems.
