Job summary

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Operating Room team. The role includes assessing patients, coordinating care with the surgical team, developing care plans, administering medications, and upholding infection control and safety standards.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, NYS RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS within specified timelines. New grads must obtain ACLS within 6 months; a BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current NYS RN license or eligibility.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification within 3 months of hire; new grads within 6 months.
• BSN preferred; BSN within 10 years for license maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; coordinate care with health disciplines.
• Develop written individualized care plans including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications per orders.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the care team.
• Maintain written plan of care and document patient education.
