Job summary

Southwest Eye Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Circulator to assist in organizing and daily operations of the surgery center in accordance with federal, state, and accreditation standards. You will care for patients before their procedures, monitor vital signs, and assist anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians.

This is a full-time morning position. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 4x10-hour shifts with Tuesdays off; there are no night, weekend, holiday, or

Qualifications

  • Current State RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS must be current or completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Two years' experience in PreOp preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for surgical patients.
  • Assist anesthesia, surgeons, and operating room staff as needed.
  • Maintain patient safety and comfort before and after procedures.
  • Perform and document medications administration per physician orders.
  • Ensure charting and patient records are complete and accurate.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Circulator at Southwest Eye Surgery Center to join our team. The Registered Nurse will assist in the organization and daily function of the surgery center in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures. Care for patients preparing for their surgical procedure. Monitor patient's vital signs and continuously evaluate patient recovery from anesthesia. May assist anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians. This is a full-time morning position.

Schedule will be Monday - Friday, 4x10-hour shifts (Tuesdays off)

NO nights, NO weekends, NO Holidays, NO on-call!

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Assesses, plans, evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure.
  • Assesses patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Adheres to all facility policies and procedures when providing patient care.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide patient care in emergency situations.
  • Assesses learning needs according to the patient's level of understanding and readiness to learn.
  • Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care provided.
  • Assumes charge nurse responsibility as assigned.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills.
  • History and physical assessment of the patient.
  • Completes review of medical records.
  • Admits patient according to procedure.
  • Promotes physical comfort and provides emotional support and safety for the patient.
  • Administers and charts medications as ordered by physician.
  • Reinforces and clarifies physician instructions and explanations of procedures to patients.
  • Provides nursing care and appropriate monitoring according to policies and procedures.
  • Verifies surgical/procedure site with the patient and according to surgical schedule and patient History and Physical.
  • Obtains and verifies operative/procedure consent.
  • Provides instructions according to patient needs.
  • Completes nursing documentation.
  • Provides emergency care according to physician and administrative policy.
  • Assists with preoperative and postoperative patient calls.
  • Reviews charts for completeness and signatures of physicians.

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:
  • Current State RN license.
  • If BLS and ACLS are not current upon hire, successful completion of a course is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Two (2) years ' experience in PreOp preferred.
