Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a motivated Pathologists' Assistant to join the Operating Room Pathology team in Winston-Salem, NC. The role involves gross processing of specimens, teaching residents, and supporting OR pathology protocols with minimal supervision.

Required are NAACLS-accredited PA training and ASCP certification or eligibility; a Bachelor's degree is essential, with a Master’s preferred. The schedule is Monday–Friday with full-time hours and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program (ASCP). Master's degree preferred.
• ASCP Pathology Assistant certification or must obtain within one year of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with data handling ability.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross processing of operating room and clinic specimens, including photography and related reports.
• Teaches junior residents proper grossing techniques and assists to ensure timely completion.
• Implements OR tissue-based research protocols and procures samples for studies.
• Maintains resident rotation schedules with chiefs/senior residents.
• Maintains and updates the gross specimen handbook and related protocols.
