Job summary

Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, is seeking an experienced perioperative leader to serve as OR Nurse Flow Manager. You will oversee daily operating room flow, coordinate patient movement through pre-op, surgery, and recovery, and optimize resources in a high-volume environment.

Requirements include a BSN and previous OR Charge Nurse experience; a Master’s in healthcare, operations, or engineering is preferred.

Job Summary

Operating Room Nurse Flow Manager Brigham and Women’s Hospital | Boston, MA | Full-Time (36 Hours) | Rotating Shift Lead the Flow of Care in One of the Nation’s Premier Surgical Programs Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse leader to serve as our OR Nurse Flow Manager. In this critical role, you will oversee daily operating room flow, coordinate patient movement throughout the surgical continuum, and ensure efficient utilization of resources across a complex, high-volume operating room environment. Working alongside surgeons, anesthesia leaders, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care while optimizing operational performance in a department that performs approximately 27,000 surgical cases annually across 46 operating rooms.

What You’ll Do

Lead and coordinate daily operating room patient flow and scheduling activities. Facilitate the movement of patients from pre-op through surgery and post-operative recovery. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia teams, nursing leaders, PACU, ICU, and ancillary departments to maximize OR efficiency. Monitor schedules, anticipate delays, and implement solutions to maintain patient throughput. Align staffing resources with surgical volume, patient acuity, and operational needs. Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize routine, urgent, and emergent cases. Monitor and maintain scheduling accuracy within Epic. Promote teamwork, communication, and operational excellence across the perioperative service line. Support departmental policies, quality initiatives, and organizational goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree required
  • Previous Operating Room Charge Nurse experience required
  • Master’s Degree in related healthcare, Operations, engineering Preferred
