Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking an Operating Room Attendant to transport patients and supplies, assist with patient positioning, and help clean the OR between surgeries. You will support the surgical team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring a safe environment and proper infection control.

Responsibilities include stocking, room setup, and handling equipment while working in a high-demand surgical unit on a full-time, onsite night schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Preferred Nursing Assistant course completion.
• Experience in a surgical setting is preferred.

Summary: The Operating Room Attendant is responsible for the transport of pre-operative and post-operative patients, assisting with positioning of surgical patients, cleaning operating rooms between surgeries, maintaining equipment and storerooms, obtaining supply carts and special-order items, and assist with direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Transports patients, specimens, blood, and blood products between clinical areas. Assist with positioning and holding limbs for surgical site prep. Completes pre-op skin prep as outlined in physician orders.

• Obtains case needs for each operating room by positioning equipment, aids, and supplies. Assists with all aspects of room set up and cleaning.

• Performs delegated duties as a member of the surgical team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists with other patient care activities as assigned by circulator.

• Maintains safe environment for patient care by effectively completing in between case cleaning for Operating Room. Demonstrates knowledge of cleaning agents and their intended use.

• Cleans and prepares operating room in between cases. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.

• Ensures surgical department/hallways and scrub sinks are clean and free of clutter or debris. Stocks assigned supplies and equipment as needed.
