Job summary

Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL seeks an Operating Room Assistant to support pre-op and recovery services. Under supervision, you will assist with decontamination, restocking, patient positioning, and preparation for procedures, ensuring safety and efficiency in the OR.

This full-time role features a 5:30am-2:00pm schedule with 40 hours per week; responsibilities include environment maintenance, equipment handling, and contributing to rapid room turnovers while upholding the center's

Responsibilities

• Assists with equipment management and reports problems to the department manager.
• Restocks operating room supplies and maintains PAR levels (needles, syringes, blankets, positioning devices, anesthesia circuits).
• Decontaminates OR suites between cases; cleans and disinfects equipment and surfaces.
• Maintains logs and records for department compliance and equipment use.

General Description: Under the general supervision of the Surgery Manager and the direct supervision of the Surgery Clinical Coordinator and the Operating Room RN, the Operating Room Assistant is responsible for decontamination or OR suites, restocking of supplies, transportation, assisting with positioning, and patient preparation for procedures as required. Responsible for environmental needs in the department including management of blood and body fluids. Acts as a runner for time sensitive and clinically significant products, such as stat labs and blood participants in OR room turnover ensuring effective and efficient room turnovers. Adheres to the Parrish Medical Centers Corporate Compliance Plan rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

• Ensures safe Transport, transfer, and positioning of patients utilizing good body mechanics. Maintains patient privacy and dignity at all times. Adheres to policies related to patient identification and confidentiality. Utilizes knowledge of surgical specialty positioning equipment
• Assists with equipment management. May have specific training related to lasers, video, printers, or other equipment utilized in the department. Reports any problems with equipment to department manager
• Procedure and restock operating room supplies, including needles and syringes, blankets, positioning devices, anesthesia circuits and gases. Maintain appropriate PAR levels.
• Decontaminates OR suites between cases. Includes disinfection of lights and furniture tops, mop floors, empty trash and soiled linen.
• Consistently cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and ensures availability of utilized equipment according to company standards and practices. Includes completion of department logs/records.
