Job description

Join to apply for the Operating Room Attendant role at Boston Children's Hospital.

Under the direct OR Flow Manager, you will be responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and servicing Operating/Procedure Rooms to ensure timely turnover and safety of patients and staff. You will follow proper cleaning and infection control guidelines.

Operating Room Attendant Responsibilities

1. Maintain operating room cleaning practices and follow infection control guidelines.
2. Respond promptly to requests to clean O.R.s for timely turnover.
3. Perform between-case cleaning to ensure the OR is sterile, clean, and safe.
4. Clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and floors according to procedures.
5. Decontaminate equipment, including tubes and canisters, following established protocols.
6. Arrange the OR to meet protocols.
7. Conduct terminal cleaning, including removing equipment, cleaning surfaces, and floors.
8. Dispose of trash, linens, and recyclables properly.
9. Maintain facilities and equipment, including walls, furniture, and medical devices.
10. Change linens and provide support in moving equipment or setting up.
11. Report any broken equipment or unusual situations.

Schedule

Must be able to work during weekends.

• Position 1: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• Position 2: Monday-Friday, 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience cleaning operating rooms.
• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to read and understand instructions in English.
• Ability to operate powered machinery safely.
• Ability to respond to written or verbal instructions.
• Courteous contact with patients and visitors.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
• Occasionally lift/carry 11-20 pounds.
• Push/pull equipment over 50 pounds.
• Regularly stoop, bend, reach, and grasp.
