Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Operating Room Assistant II to support the surgical unit in West Ashley. Under the direction of licensed personnel, this role assists in direct patient care and daily unit tasks.

Required credentials include Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire and ongoing maintenance. May involve irregular hours, 2 pm–10 pm shifts, and weekend coverage as part of holiday call and disaster teams.

Qualifications

• College degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals.

Minimum Training and Education

At least 1 year work experience in a .6 fte Operating Room Assistant II position at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient care work experience in a healthcare facility; or a college degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; or a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.

Required Credentials

Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Shift & Schedule

• May require working irregular hours, rotating shifts and weekends.
• Monday - Friday 4 / 10 hour shifts, 2 pm - 10 pm
• Holiday Call and Disaster Teams
