Job summary

Boston Center for Plastic Surgery seeks an Operating Room Assistant to support OR prep, stock rooms, and setup with the right equipment and accessories. You will help turnovers between cases to keep surgical staff moving efficiently.

Key duties include equipment readiness checks, inventory unloading, backroom tracking, instrument sterilization, and packing kits accurately. You will work closely with the surgical team to maintain a steady workflow and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an MA is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• OR Preparation: Pick cases, stock rooms and maintain readiness; set up rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies; ensure stretchers, tables, devices are set up in the correct position with the correct accessories; help turnover ORs between cases to allow the surgical staff a break/lunch.
• Equipment and Supply Management: Check equipment availability and report malfunction; manage consignment and specialty supply inventory; unload orders; track inventory needs in backroom.
• Instrumentation: Clean instruments appropriately; pack kits accurately; run Bowie Dicks and biologics.
