Indiana University Health's University Hospital in Indianapolis is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to join our surgical team. You will support the team by preparing the OR, procuring equipment, and opening sterile supplies, and you will transport patients and assist with patient care as needed. This full-time day shift role runs 7:00am-5:30pm with a rotating day off.
No weekends required. A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with BLS certification; prior hospital experience is
University Hospital houses 23 operating rooms (ORs) covering various service lines including Thoracic, General Surgery, Hepatobiliary, Urology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Oral, Plastics, Ear, Nose, and Throat, as well as Abdominal Transplant (Liver, Kidney, Pancreas, Intestine, and Multivesicular). As an integral part of the Academic Health Center, our focus lies on high-acuity patient care, particularly emphasizing cancer-related treatments. Operating Room Assistants support the surgical team before, during and after surgery. Assists with operating room preparation by cleaning, procuring equipment and opening sterile supplies. Provides transportation and needed assistance with patient care. Assists Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists and other surgical personnel.
Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
