Job summary

IU Health Methodist is seeking an Operating Room Assistant for an evening, full-time role in downtown Indianapolis. The position involves supporting the surgical team before, during, and after surgery, including OR preparation, equipment procurement, sterile supplies handling, and patient transport.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and a preference for prior hospital experience. AHA BLS certification is required, and applicants must maintain sterile fields and demonstrate

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team before, during and after surgery.
• Prepare and clean operating room; procure equipment and open sterile supplies.
• Transport and assist with patient care as needed.
• Assist Surgical Techs and Nurses with assigned duties during procedures.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical techs and other staff.

This is a full time evening shift working Monday-Friday.
Operating Room Assistants support the surgical team before, during and after surgery. Assists with operating room preparation by cleaning, procuring equipment and opening sterile supplies. Provides transportation and needed assistance with patient care. Assists Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists and other surgical personnel.
Requires a High School Diploma/GED.

• Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
• Requires physical stamina and proper lifting techniques.
