Job summary

IU Health Methodist in downtown Indianapolis seeks an Operating Room Assistant to support the surgical team before, during and after procedures. This full-time evening shift runs Monday through Friday and entails preparing the OR, transporting supplies, and assisting with patient care.

You will work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs, and techs, maintain sterile fields, and uphold hospital policies. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, prior hospital experience preferred, and

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
• Requires physical stamina and proper lifting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Support the surgical team before, during and after surgery.
• Prepare the operating room by cleaning, procuring equipment and opening sterile supplies.
• Provide transportation and needed assistance with patient care.
• Assist Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties.
