City of New Orleans Government seeks a skilled mechanical technician to supervise operation and maintenance of heating, cooling, and mechanical equipment in a major public building. The role may involve working as part of a pool of floating engineers to cover HVAC across library locations.
Applicants must hold the required licenses and provide original documents before starting. This is a noncompetitive civil service classification managed by the City.
Skilled mechanical and supervisory work in the operation and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and mechanical equipment in a large public building or complex; and related work as required. Incumbents may also work as part of a pool of "floating" engineers to maintain HVAC systems throughout all 15 library locations.
At the time of application applicants must possess the following licenses issued by the Board of Examiners of Operating Engineers of the City of New Orleans (Room 7E05, City Hall):
Note: Experience in troubleshooting and servicing air conditioning units, including all types of control circuits, is preferred but not required.
