Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking an Operating Engineer / Equipment Operator for our Sandy Creek, NY outdoor construction yard. The role involves safe movement of materials, operating forklifts, telehandlers and wheel loaders in all weather, and coordinating with on-site customers.

Pay is $54.00 per hour with a January 2027 start date and comprehensive benefits. The position requires OSHA 30, OSHA safety practices, and a background in moving heavy loads up to 30,000 lbs.

Qualifications

• Certified forklift operator - required.
• Two (2) to four (4) years in a heavy forklift operator role.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with moving and managing materials up to 30,000 lbs.
• Experience working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
• Experience in shipping and receiving.
• OSHA 30 Certification is required.
• Experience in the electrical construction industry (preferred).
• Experience with ERP inventory management systems (preferred).
• First Aid and CPR Certified (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Follows company Health & Safety Program to ensure safety on site.
• Operates equipment for unloading, storage and loading of electrical construction materials.
• Interfaces with customer representatives on site.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Equipment experience includes light and heavy forklifts, telehandlers, and wheel loaders.
• Performs daily equipment checks to ensure safe operation.
• Uses company truck to deliver and pick up materials from yard to jobsite.

Job Summary:

The Operating Engineer / Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials and supporting the organization of the construction yard. This role supports the daily operations of an outdoor construction materials yard located in Sandy Creek, NY. Equipment experience shall include operations of both light duty and heavy-duty forklifts, telehandlers capable of handling materials upwards of 30,000 lbs. This position will require equipment operating in extreme weather conditions at times including rain, snow, and humidity. The pay range for this position is $54.00 per hour, please note that the expected start date for this role is the first week of January 2027.
