Job summary

JRK Steel Inc. in Duluth, MN is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our metal fabrication team. This hands-on role requires precise setup and operation of CNC plasma cutting equipment to produce components to exact specifications.

You will read blueprints, interpret cut sheets, manage material staging, and ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances while maintaining safe, clean workspaces in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and cut sheets.
• Basic math skills including measurements and tolerances.
• Prior experience operating a CNC plasma cutting or similar metal fabrication equipment.
• Familiarity with steel grades, plate sizes, and material handling.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials.
• Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC Machines to cut metal components to specification
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and cut sheets
• Program or load cut files into plasma table software/CNC controls
• Inspect finished parts for quality, dimensional accuracy, and clean cuts
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on plasma cutting equipment
• Organize and stage raw material for efficient workflow
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with shop safety standards
