Position Overview

The OpenShift, Storage & Linux Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and support of B&H's enterprise container platform, virtualization infrastructure, Linux server environment, storage systems, backup environment, and disaster recovery solutions.

The OpenShift, Storage & Linux Administrator collaborates with Infrastructure, Networking, Security, Database, Application Development, and external vendors to design, implement, and support highly available, scalable, and secure platforms. This role is responsible for the administration and lifecycle management of Red Hat OpenShift, OpenShift Virtualization, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), enterprise storage platforms, SAN infrastructure, and backup and recovery systems.

The administrator ensures all platforms are designed and maintained to support current business requirements, future growth, business continuity objectives, security standards, and operational excellence

• Design, deploy, administer, and support Red Hat OpenShift clusters across production, development, test, and disaster recovery environments
• Design, implement, and support OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) environments hosting business-critical workloads
• Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system, storage, backup, and infrastructure services
• Manage Linux operating system lifecycle activities including provisioning, patching, security hardening, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity management.
• Administer and maintain Red Hat Satellite infrastructure, content management, patch management, provisioning, and system lifecycle management.
• Develop and maintain automated server deployment solutions utilizing Kickstart and related provisioning technologies.
• Administer and support enterprise storage platforms including Pure Storage FlashArray, and NAS platforms such as Dell EMC Isilon.
• Design, maintain, and support enterprise backup and recovery solutions utilizing Veritas NetBackup.
• Perform and validate backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery operations.
• Design and maintain highly available infrastructure solutions for containerized, virtualized, and traditional workloads.
• Administer Brocade Fiber Channel SAN infrastructure, storage provisioning, zoning coordination, host integration, and multipathing.
• Manage storage lifecycle functions including capacity planning, performance analysis, snapshots, cloning, replication, and disaster recovery.
• Manage NAS, object storage, and cloud storage integrations including NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3-compatible storage, lifecycle policies, capacity, access controls, and data protection considerations.
• Monitor platform health, performance, capacity, and availability, proactively identifying issues before service impact occurs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux, OpenShift, storage, backup, SAN, and infrastructure issues
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and document corrective actions for service disruptions and outages.
• Implement platform upgrades, patches, firmware updates, and lifecycle maintenance according to vendor and security requirements.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies and scripting.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and disaster recovery runbooks.
• Collaborate with Networking, Security, Database, and Development teams to ensure successful deployment and operation of business solutions.
• Participate in technology evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical production systems.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong experience administering Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms.
• Experience with OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt).
• Understanding of container lifecycle management, orchestration, and platform operations.
• Knowledge of CI/CD integration, GitOps methodologies, and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite administration, provisioning, content management, patch management, and lifecycle management.
• Experience creating and maintaining Kickstart-based automated deployment solutions.
• Strong understanding of Linux system
• Experience with Bash scripting and Linux automation.

Storage Technologies

• Experience with Pure Storage FlashArray administration.
• Experience with Dell EMC Isilon and general NAS platform administration, including NetApp or similar enterprise NAS solutions.
• Experience with S3-compatible object storage and cloud storage services, including provisioning, access controls, lifecycle management, replication, and data protection.
• Experience with Fiber Channel SAN architecture, storage provisioning, zoning, and multipathing.
• Knowledge of storage performance tuning, replication, snapshots, cloning, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Experience supporting storage infrastructure in enterprise production environments.
• Experience supporting Kubernetes and OpenShift storage integrations.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Expert knowledge of Veritas NetBackup administration.
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise backup architectures.
• Strong understanding of backup retention, recovery procedures, replication, and disaster recovery operations.
• Experience performing large-scale recovery testing and business continuity exercises.
