Job summary

Apex Systems seeks an OpenShift Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate a Kubernetes-based hosting platform across global locations. You will provisioning, patching, and securing the cluster stack while improving observability and storage provisioning.

Requires senior Kubernetes/OpenShift experience, strong IaC skills (Helm, Terraform, Kustomize), and GitOps with Argo CD or Flux. A DoD clearance eligibility is also required for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an IT-related field.
• Senior-level hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift, Rancher, or upstream Kubernetes.
• Experience deploying and managing CSI drivers for dynamic persistent storage provisioning.
• Strong IaC experience using Helm, Kustomize, Terraform, and GitOps tools like Argo CD or Flux.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Kubernetes networking, container runtimes, persistent storage, and platform services.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes persistent storage ecosystems and observability tools.
• A Security+ or equivalent Level II certification; a relevant Kubernetes/OpenShift certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a Kubernetes-based enterprise hosting architecture.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage clusters and services.
• Provide daily administration of Kubernetes clusters, including patching and upgrades.
• Configure and manage CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium, OpenShift SDN).
• Deploy and maintain CSI drivers for dynamic storage provisioning.
• Monitor resources and advise leadership on capacity.
• Harden clusters per best practices and cybersecurity controls.
• Troubleshoot platform issues across networking, runtimes, and storage.
• Develop operational documentation and provide after-hours on-call support.
