Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking an experienced Open Source Software Engineer to design, build, and steward cloud native software across defense ecosystems. You will collaborate with contributors, users, and partners, shaping architecture and contributing code in Go with growing TypeScript skills.

You will influence product direction, contribute to CNCF/open source projects, and help ensure secure, reliable delivery across distributed teams in a remote USA setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building or maintaining open source software tools in cloud native or software supply chain domains.
• Proficiency in Go with interest in learning TypeScript; willingness to contribute across Rust.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal engineers and open source contributors on features, bug fixes, reviews, and releases.
• Engage with open source communities, industry partners, and standards bodies via common platforms to move projects forward, including community meetings.
• Amplify the voice of our projects within the ecosystem by delivering end-user experiences and creating case studies, blogs, or conference talks.
• Identify and resolve ambiguity across product requirements, community needs, and upstream project constraints.
• Build and integrate secure, interoperable cloud native software for defense environments and improve relevant open source projects.
