Defense Unicorns seeks an experienced Software Engineer to build, maintain, and steward open source products and the ecosystems they depend on. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, contributors, and end users to ensure right solutions and quality.

You’ll work at the intersection of community stewardship and product development, driving cloud native software for defense environments, with Go expertise and openness to TypeScript and Rust as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building or maintaining open source software tools in cloud native or software supply chain domains.
• Proficient in Go; interest in learning TypeScript and contributing in Rust.
• Strong understanding of system design, APIs, Kubernetes, and cloud architectures (AWS/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal engineers and OSS contributors on features, fixes, reviews, and releases with clear communication and stewardship.
• Engage with OSS communities and partners to move projects and upstream ecosystems forward; facilitate community meetings.
• Elevate project presence via end-user experiences, case studies, blogs, or talks; gather user feedback.
