Qualifications

• Diplomate status or eligibility for board-certification through ACVS/ECVS.
• Fellowship training in surgical oncology, or willingness to complete within first 24 months.
• Advanced degree (Master/PhD) in a relevant area is desirable but not required.
• Prior research experience and ability to build a robust independent program.
• Interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary research and translational veterinary/biomedical research.
• Clinical experience, communication skills, and commitment to teaching and professional growth.
• Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri, DEA registration, BNDD certificate, and USDA accreditation (Small Animal).

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical instruction of students, interns, and residents in surgical oncology, soft tissue surgery, and perioperative medicine based on the VHC caseload.
• Contribute to professional and graduate curriculum; participate in classroom and laboratory instruction; online instruction possible.
• Represent University, College, and VHC in outreach to animal-owning public, referring veterinarians, and other stakeholders.
• Share after-hours call with other faculty and house officers.
• Develop a research program related to surgical oncology, perioperative medicine, or related discipline; foster collaborative research and mentorship.
• Participate in faculty governance activities.
• Perform other duties to support Oncology and Surgery Sections, Department, College, and University.
• Distribution of effort will be based on qualifications, goals, and needs of sections.
