Job description

The Department of Economics at Rice University in Houston, Texas,invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty positionin Health Economics, beginning July 1, 2027. The rank is open.Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should have completedthe Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field by the date ofappointment. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levelshould have a record of scholarship commensurate with appointmentat that rank at a leading research department.

We seek a scholar whose research addresses substantive questions inhealth economics, broadly defined, including but not limited to theindustrial organization of health care markets, health insurancedesign, the determinants and consequences of health over the lifecycle, and the evaluation of health policy. The successfulcandidate will join an established group in health economics andwill have opportunities for collaboration across the University,including with the Baker Institute for Public Policy and withPopulation Health, and with institutions in the Texas MedicalCenter.

Responsibilities include research, teaching at the undergraduateand graduate levels, and service to the Department and the University. Applications received by November 15, 2026 willreceive full consideration.
