Job summary

The University of Tennessee Health Sciences College of Dentistry seeks a board-certified or board-eligible Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for a part-time Open Rank Professor position. The role supports predoctoral and graduate education with direct supervision of students and residents while delivering comprehensive OMFS care.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD degree (or international equivalent) and completion of an ADA-accredited OMFS residency.
• Diplomate of the ABOMS or board eligible with certification within institutional timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical supervision of D3 and D4 dental students in the predoctoral OMFS clinic.
• Teach dentoalveolar surgery, diagnosis, treatment planning, local anesthesia, infection management, exodontia, and complications.
• Evaluate student competency with formative and summative assessments.
• Supervise OMFS residents (PGY-1 to PGY-4) and participate in resident education and mentoring.
• Provide comprehensive outpatient OMFS care and ambulatory anesthesia as required.
• Participate in trauma call coverage and collaboration with multidisciplinary trauma teams.
• Engage in departmental meetings, accreditation activities, and quality improvement.
