Job summary

The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Neurology Department seeks an epileptologist to join our neurology team in an open rank, clinician educator track position, dedicated to clinical care and building a robust clinical practice at UNMH.

The successful candidate will participate in outpatient epilepsy clinic, inpatient EMU coverage, and EEG interpretation, with academic duties including teaching and research within the department.

Qualifications

  • MD degree or equivalent required.
  • Board certified/eligible in neurology.
  • Completed adult neurology residency prior to start date.
  • Completed epilepsy or neurophysiology fellowship prior to start date.
  • Eligible for medical license in New Mexico.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient epilepsy clinic care.
  • Cover inpatient EMU and read inpatient/outpatient EEGs.
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
  • Engage in departmental research activities.

Open Rank of Neurology - Epileptologist

The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Neurology Department seeks an epileptologist to join our neurology team in an open rank, clinician educator track position, who is dedicated to clinical care and building a robust clinical practice. You will be part of a team of faculty who provide high quality epilepsy care in inpatient and outpatient settings at UNMHospital (UNMH).

UNMH has the only NAEC level 4 accredited Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in the state. We have the only epilepsy surgery program, epilepsy monitoring unit, neuromodulation program, and ICU video EEG monitoring program in New Mexico. Our epileptologists work with a multidisciplinary team including a functional neurosurgeon with expertise in epilepsy surgery and dbs, neuropsychologists, learners, and APPs.

Clinical responsibilities include outpatient epilepsy clinic, inpatient EMU coverage and reading of both inpatient and outpatient adult EEGs.

Academic responsibilities include participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department.

The successful candidate is a dedicated educator and clinician who has excellent communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of clinical experience managing epilepsy patients
