Job summary

UNC Chapel Hill invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position within the Division of Data Science and Society (SDIS) at the School of Data and Information Sciences. The successful candidate will lead machine learning and AI initiatives across large-scale neural and behavioral data, collaborating with multiple departments to advance the public good and clinical translation.

Minimum education includes a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Must have a Ph.D. and/or MD with AI/ML/data science expertise.
• Strong record in teaching at undergraduate/graduate levels and supervision.
• Ability to secure external funding is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain an externally funded research program in machine learning for neural data.
• Collaborate across multiple departments and clinical partners to translate research into health benefits.
• Lead teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Ph.D. and/or MD in AI/ML, data science, CS, statistics, computational neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related field
