Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Division of Data Science and Society within the School of Data and Information Sciences (SDIS) invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the neuroengineering cluster. Qualifications

• PhD and/or MD in artificial intelligence/machine learning, data science, computer science, statistics, computational neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field that applies AI and data science techniques.
• Strong record of research, teaching, and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels; ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary settings.
• Preference for candidates with the potential to secure external funding to support research projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain an externally funded research program focused on understanding, predicting, and translating brain function using large-scale neural and behavioral data.
• Lead machine learning, statistical inference, and AI initiatives for multimodal neural data and translational neuroengineering applications.
• Collaborate across departments and clinical partners to advance device, systems, computing, modeling, and translation in neuroengineering.
