Job summary

UNC-Chapel Hill invites applications for open-rank tenure-track faculty in Data Science and Society. We seek candidates contributing to AI/ML, data science foundations, and societal applications across medical, social, physical, biological, and environmental sciences.

We aim to build a diverse, collaborative community within the Division of Data Science and Society. A strong record of research, teaching, and potential for external funding is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. and/or MD with expertise in AI/ML, data science, or related fields.
• Strong research record and interest in undergraduate/graduate teaching and supervision.
• Ability to secure external funding is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students across data science and related fields.
• Conduct interdisciplinary research addressing societal challenges with ethical data practices.
• Collaborate with faculty across the DSS pillars and engage with external partners.
