Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for an Open Rank Faculty position in the Division of Infectious Diseases. This role includes general ID consultations, e-consult participation, and serving as Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention. The ideal candidate will have a medical degree, fellowship training in infectious diseases, and eligibility for medical licensure in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in hospital epidemiology.
• Board certified or board eligible in ID.

Position Summary

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for an Open Rank Faculty on the variable track. Duties include general ID consultations, e‑consult/tele‑consult participation, occasional supervision of trainees, quality improvement efforts, participation in case conferences, and serving as the Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention.

Responsibilities

• General ID consultations at UNC Medical Center and UNC Hospitals’ Hillsborough Campus (average census 15‑20 inpatients).
• Participation with ambulatory and inpatient e‑consult or tele‑consult requests.
• Occasional supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
• Assist clinical leadership with quality improvement initiatives for inpatient consultation services.
• Participation in weekly ID case conferences and grand rounds.
• Serve as Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention for UNC Hospitals and associated ambulatory clinics.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent).
• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited fellowship in ID (by anticipated start date).
• Board certified or board eligible in ID.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in NC.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

• 5 years of experience in hospital epidemiology.
• MPH degree.
• Familiarity with Epic EMR.
• Familiarity with or experience leading quality improvement initiatives is desirable.
• Fluency in Spanish is helpful but not required.
