Job summary

The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to provide general dental care at an off-site clinical facility hosted by Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA. Eligibility for GA dental or faculty licensure is required.

Abilites include interprofessional collaboration and managing patient records in compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an ADA accredited dental school or have 5 years of clinical experience and be licensed in or eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
• Experience teaching clinicians and clinical staff, and ability to refer patients for specialty care.
• General Dentistry experience with IDD patients and familiarity with digital workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive general dental treatment for patients in outpatient and hospital settings at the Mercer University School of Medicine Center for Adults with IDD in Macon, GA.
• Participate in relevant DCG and Mercer committees, oversee patient records, and complete required compliance training.

The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in General Dentistry. They will provide general patient care at an off-site clinical facility hosted by the Mercer University School of Medicine that treats adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Must be eligible for GA State dental or faculty license. The facility is located at 750 Hazel Street, Macon, GA 31201.

This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Abilities
Competent patient care: effective interprofessional collaboration, and efficient clinic management including patient record keeping in compliance with institutional and governmental policies.

Knowledge
Previous teaching or mentoring experience with clinicians and clinical staff, the ability to recognize the need to refer patients for specialty dental treatment and familiarity with digital dentistry workflows.

Skills
Organizational and communication skills as oral health clinician in support of interdisciplinary patient care.

Responsibilities

Clinical/Patient Care - 80%
Provide comprehensive general dental treatment for patients in outpatient and hospital settings at the Mercer University School of Medicine Center for Adults with intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Macon, GA as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Augusta University/Dental College of Georgia and Mercer University. This facility is located at 750 Hazel Street, Macon, GA 31201

Service - 20%
Participate in relevant DCG, and Mercer University School of Medicine committees or councils, provide administrative oversight for patient records and complete required annual compliance training as assigned by Augusta University and the Mercer School of Medicine.

Required Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an ADA accredited dental school or have 5 years of clinical experience and be licensed in or eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry. The selected candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree in the form of an original transcript.
The ability to effectively collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams of health care providers, e.g., Physicians, nurses, therapists, etc.
General Dentistry experience and at least 3 years of experience treating special needs patients e.g., with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

• Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
• Evidence of ability as a teacher;
• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
• Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity in advanced technologies and digital workflow.
Significant clinical experience, post-graduate training in general dentistry or prior experience in dental education and a working knowledge of effective practice management strategies and all aspects of clinical general dentistry.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements
