Job description

Open Rank Clinical Faculty in Transplant Surgery

Full‑time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the division of Transplant Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia, Department of Surgery, Augusta University. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care, including clinical and call coverage as outlined by the Section Chief.
  • Educate and train general surgery residents, medical students, and fellows.
  • Participate in a clinical research program on kidney, pancreas, and upcoming liver transplants.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Produce the required RVU volume for the specialty and work effort.
  • Participate in departmental educational programs, including teaching, service, training, preceptorship, and mentoring.
Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Board‑certified in general surgery with completion of an ASTS‑accredited transplant surgery fellowship.
  • Up to five years of clinical experience.
  • Meets UNOS primary kidney and pancreas transplant surgeon requirements for adult and pediatric programs.
Rank‑Specific Criteria
  • Assistant Professor – Early‑career faculty member with appropriate post‑graduate training.
  • Associate Professor – Mid‑level faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor (or comparable).
  • Professor – Senior‑level faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor (or comparable).
Faculty Employment Qualifications (All USG Institutions)
  • Consistent with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
  • Evidence of teaching ability.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity and ability to perform other duties.
  • Successful experience (waived for those newly entering the profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities assessed through interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
