Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer to join our mining team in Carlin, NV. The successful candidate will support short and long term mine plans through geotechnical analysis and project guidance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering or related field, 3–5 years open pit geotechnical experience (preferred), and supervisory experience. You will work in a collaborative, safety‑driven environment and use Rocscience software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering or related field is required.
• 3-5 years geotechnical experience at an active open pit mine site is preferred.
• Experience supervising engineers and technicians is preferred.
• Ability to develop and sustain short- and long-term projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strong understanding and experience with open pit blasting techniques and controls.
• Data collection and assessment of rock mass and rock defect strength properties.
• Understand stiff soil properties, anisotropy and effects on slope design.
• Work with Rocscience surface stability software.
• Collaborate in a team and communicate with personnel at all levels.
