Job summary

The Department of Visual Arts (DoVA) at the University of Chicago invites applications from practicing artists to join the tenure-track faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2027, or soon after.

The selected candidate will pursue their own creative agenda and collaborate with faculty across DoVA and the Division of the Arts & Humanities.

Qualifications

• Active artistic agenda with national/international exhibition history or potential.
• Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
• Completed MFA in a relevant visual arts area or comparable professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per year on a quarter system across undergraduate and graduate curricula.
• Advise students at all levels of the program.
• Engage in service on departmental and University committees.
• Collaborate with faculty across DoVA and the Division of the Arts & Humanities.
