Job summary

The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) is hiring a Senior Research Scientist for the Open Ecosystem, based in Seattle. You will advance truly open AI research, lead projects around foundation models, and shape the Open Ecosystem program with a focus on scientific impact and collaboration.

You’ll help train and improve large-scale models, drive data curation pipelines, and contribute to publications and standards collaborations.

Qualifications

• PhD in AI/ML or related field with strong publication record.
• Significant experience building and training modern foundation models.
• Experience with agentic training and multimodal data preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership and define ground-breaking research in open ecosystem.
• Oversee and implement software systems supporting Ai2’s research.
• Lead small teams and collaborate with academia, industry and government partners.
• Publish and present scientific findings in peer-reviewed venues.
