Job summary

PEABODY COALTRADE ASIA PRIVATE LTD. seeks an Open Cut Operator trainer to design and deliver immersive learning experiences for surface coal mine staff using VR/AR and simulators.

You will ensure safe work practices and compliance with MSHA while evaluating outcomes and updating training materials. The role involves coordinating with Operations, Safety, Maintenance and HR to identify skill gaps, track progress, and continuously improve programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 3-5 years of surface coal mining experience.
  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining safety standards.
  • Experience operating heavy mining equipment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate immersive and hands-on training programs for new hires and experienced employees.
  • Conduct equipment operation training using simulators and VR platforms for haul trucks, dozers, loaders, excavators, drills, and other mining equipment.
  • Develop and maintain training content aligned with operational procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor trainee performance and provide coaching, feedback, and remediation as needed.
  • Track and document employee training records and competency assessments.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and HR teams to identify training needs and skill gaps.
  • Ensure all training materials remain current with company procedures, equipment changes, and MSHA requirements.
  • Support onboarding programs and annual refresher training.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of immersive learning solutions and recommend improvements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through interactive learning experiences and behavioral safety initiatives.
  • Assist with incident investigations by identifying training opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Maintain training equipment, simulators, VR hardware, and related software.
