Job summary

General Dynamics - IT in Hawaii seeks a Wireless Installation Engineer to lead wireless design, surveys, and installation across DoD modernization sites. You will supervise on-site teams, validate designs, and ensure DoW/Air Force/Space Force compliance throughout implementation.

The role requires 5+ years in wireless engineering, hands-on use of Ekahau/iBwave, and experience managing subcontractors; an active Secret clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in wireless network engineering, WLAN design, wireless survey, or enterprise wireless deployment.
• BS degree in Wireless Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading installation teams in complex environments (DoW, federal, campus, or enterprise).
• Familiarity with predictive/validation survey tools (Ekahau, Hamina, iBwave).
• Understanding of RF fundamentals, cabling, and security integration.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site supervision for wireless survey techs and installers.
• Oversee end-to-end wireless lifecycle: design, surveys, validation, installation, and tuning.
• Ensure designs meet DoW, Air Force, Space Force standards and OEM best practices.
• Approve predictive designs, heatmaps, channel plans, and AP placement.
• Coordinate with Site Implementation Lead on scheduling and resources.
• Collaborate with network engineers to integrate WLC configurations with security infra.
• Maintain QA through inspection of APs, cabling, labeling, and configurations.
• Document RF designs, survey reports, as-builts, and validation data.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for wireless issues.
• Coordinate with base and government stakeholders on requirements.
