Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking an SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) to support mission-critical infrastructure for a leading government services and technology organization. The SRE will maintain and optimize highly available Kubernetes environments, Rancher platforms, and Linux systems while ensuring scalability and reliability in secure enterprise environments.

The role is a long term contract opportunity, onsite 5 days per week, and requires an active TS/SCI with FS Poly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering environments.
• Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
• Strong experience with Rancher for container orchestration and cluster management.
• Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar technologies.
• Active TS/SCI with FSP clearance.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters in complex production environments.
• Manage and support Rancher deployments, including cluster provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, platform, and application-related issues across Linux systems.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to support continuous deployment and operational efficiency.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and system performance tuning initiatives.
