Job summary

American Electric Power in New Albany, Ohio is seeking a Tower and Civil Construction Lead Principal SG9 to lead complex telecommunication tower construction projects onsite, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will collaborate with Wireless, Civil, and Project Management teams, review designs, supervise field staff, manage FCRs and training, and drive constructability from pre-bid to handover while maintaining zero-harm objectives and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing telecommunication tower construction and wireless infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read tower drawings, rigging plans, and civil site plans.
• Knowledge of ANSI/TIA standards and grounding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Promote zero-harm in all field and office activities.
• Evaluate contractor work plans, lift plans, and rigging plans for compliance.
• Review material test results and RF considerations with onsite teams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to review construction drawings and specs.
• Coordinate pre-construction bid walks and provide feedback on bids.
• Support regional storm restoration and manage FCR labor planning.
