Job summary

UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group is seeking a Tax Manager for an onsite, direct-hire position. The ideal candidate will oversee federal and state income tax work, supervise tax professionals, and provide technical guidance.

Requirements include a CPA license, a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, and 6+ years of tax experience with 3+ years in leadership. Strong knowledge of tax laws and experience training staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Six or more years of tax experience with three or more years of supervisory or management experience.
• Active CPA license required.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and regulations.
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing tax returns.
• Ability to research complex tax issues and make independent decisions.
• Experience developing and delivering training to accounting or tax professionals.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns.
• Review tax returns prepared by tax accountants and provide guidance and feedback.
• Manage workload distribution, deadlines, and the accuracy of tax deliverables.
• Conduct tax research and prepare memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Develop training programs and materials covering complex tax topics and tax return preparation.
• Serve as a representative for tax matters with federal and state taxing authorities as needed.
• Evaluate tax software, processes, and internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure all tax filings, payments, and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time.
• Support IRS and state tax audits by gathering documentation and preparing responses and correspondence.
• Assist with federal and state estimated tax payments.
• Supervise, coach, and develop tax accountants and provide ongoing technical guidance.
• Participate in tax department initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and tax information.
